With the software bundled with most PCMCIA cards, only the most minimal of functionality is provided. Users with dual-slot systems often find that the "enabler" software provided with one card completely inhibits the operation of another card. Users of single-slot systems can forget "hot swapping" between cards. PhoenixCard Manager Plus delivers on the promises of PCMCIA, with uniform support for the widest range of cards, systems, and controllers.
Fully compliant with the latest PCMCIA specification and ExCA (TM) test suites, PCM+ (TM) Version 3.1 has brought the world of PCMCIA software beyond basic compatibility to a full featured set of drivers and utilities that end- users can understand, install, and use.
Whether you're installing from floppy disk or changing your Setup on the hard disk, PCM+ is simple and straightforward. Run INSTALL from the floppy, or PCMSETUP from your hard disk to set the PCMCIA configuration that's right for you. Designed for the novice user as well as the power user, PCM+ makes using PC Cards a true Plug n' Play experience. The PCMWIN Windows configuration utility allows the user to select a card configuration from a list of options, then intelligently confirms that the selection is valid, and you're ready to go! This "dynamic" card configuration means that PCM+ will work with today's cards and tomorrow's.
Dynamic card configuration within PCM and PCMWIN means that even I/O cards that aren't automatically configured can be configured by the user. The configuration information can be edited, confirmed by PCM+ as valid, and added to the currently configured card list. PCM+ is ready for today's technology and tomorrow's.
Reducing the size of the overall footprint of PCMCIA drivers has been a problem until NOW! Depending upon your configuration needs, PCM+ can be configured to take as little as 12K of memory in the first 1 MB address space. With just 12K used for a minimal configuration, approximately 25K for a standard configuration, and slightly larger for a full configuration, the memory strain of PCMCIA drivers has been alleviated.
Conforming to the latest PCMCIA specification, PCM+ offers the highest level of PCMCIA compatibility on the market. New in this version is support for the PCMCIA to PCI bridge controllers now coming to market.
PCM+ 3.1 intelligently REMarks out other drivers from the system before installing. The installation program checks for conflicts and prepares the system for a clean installation of PCM+. Once installed, you need only to run PCMSETUP to modify the configuration. Both Install and Deinstall support DOS 6.x multiple boot capabilities.
Configuring resources can be a difficult chore, unless you have PCMSETUP. With definable default and resource settings, PCMSETUP allows you to modify the configuration settings without creating conflicts. PCMSETUP brings a new level of "user friendliness" to PCMCIA.
The PCM+ Super Client Driver is the universal client driver for all I/O Cards. Using PCM or PCMWIN, controlling the configuration of cards has been reduced to the simple selection of configuration options! Working from a common PCM.INI file, PCM and PCMWIN allow the user to Hot Swap cards, and change their configuration in "real time". The promises of PCMCIA flexibility are delivered with PhoenixCard Manager Plus 3.1!
Built into PCM+ v3.1 is support for the latest Run Time Services BIOS support from Phoenix and support for the Intel (R) Configuration Manager. Both are important components in moving completely to the world of Plug and Play!
